Web design involves the conceptualization of a website from drafting to publishing. Web designers use a variety of computer languages, most notably HTML, but including Java, CSS, and Flash to produce the text, images, digital media, and interactive elements of the webpage. Web design includes conceptualization, planning, producing, post-production, research, advertising, and media control. With the growth of the internet, more and more companies are seeking out young, talented designers to give them an advantage in the online space.

Degree Description

Associate programs in Web Design and Development are focused on graduating web designers ready to enter the workforce. Curriculum’s teach students how to develop key software applications, discover fundamental design principles, and explore web content management. Graduates are able to produce high-quality, web-enabled graphics and develop graphic media including web pages, marketing collateral, advertising, instructional material, and multimedia projects. Students have the option to take courses in digital imaging, media design concepts, web design fundamentals, programming concepts, scripting techniques, and mobile applications. Recent graduates have been competitive at advertising agencies, marketing firms, in-house corporate communications departments, start-up companies, universities, and global Fortune-500 businesses. Jobs include website designer, webmaster, interface designer, flash animator, and web project manager. Programs are usually between four and five semesters in length.
